The Bosendorfer Imperial Grand piano
The Ernest Balmer Studio is home to a Viennese-made Bosendorfer Concert Grand 290 Imperial Piano, valued at about $225,000. Generously donated to us in 2017, the Bosendorfer is one of only two pianos of its kind available for public use in the GTA. The Bosendorfer is tuned regularly, and is ideal for piano recitals and performances.
What makes the Bosendorfer different?
The Bosendorfer Concert Grand has been described as the “Rolls-Royce of concert instruments”. The Bosendorfer is 20 centimeters longer than a traditional piano, with 97 keys compared to the standard 88. With these additional keys, the Bosendorfer provides a richly resonant sound unlike any other instrument you’ve heard. A treat to play.
The Ernest Balmer Studio is also home to a Heintzman baby grand piano which can be rented for a flat fee of $50/day. The Heintzman is ideal for rehearsals, auditions, and other non-performance based settings.
