Stephanie Tritchew, mezzo-soprano

Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Tritchew is a recent graduate of the 2017-2018 Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program at Vancouver Opera where she performed in Requiem for a Lost Girl as part of the Vancouver Opera Festival and covered the role of Olga in Eugene Onegin. She is also a graduate of the Emerging Artist program at Calgary Opera where she
performed the roles of Lucienne (Die tote Stadt), The Child (L’enfant et les sortilèges), Mercédès (Carmen), and Madeleine Audebert (Silent Night). In 2017, Stephanie made her Tapestry Opera debut as Birgitta in Bandits in the Valley. Her 2016-2017 season began with her debut at Edmonton Opera as Third Maid in Elektra, followed by her return to the Opera Theatre
of Saint Louis where she performed The Aunt in Madame Butterfly as a Gerdine Young Artist. Her season closed with The Bicycle Opera Project’s Canadian premiere of Sweat, where she performed the role of Union Organizer. On the concert stage, Stephanie has performed the Bach Mass in b minor and Handel’s Messiah with Chorus Niagara and was a Sidgwick Scholar with the Orpheus Choir of Toronto. She also made her Vancouver Symphony Orchestra debut in May 2018 singing Canadian contemporary chamber music. Stephanie is a contemporary music enthusiast and was a semi finalist in the 2014 Eckhardt Gramatté competition. She is also a collective member of The Bicycle Opera Project, a company that aims to bring Canadian contemporary opera to communities around Ontario. Most recently, Stephanie made her debut with Opera 5 performing Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia. She looks forward to her return to Calgary Opera performing Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette next season as well as making her Messiah debut with both the Belleville Choral Society and Chorus Niagara, and returning to Edmonton Opera to cover the role of Isolier in Le comte Ory.
