Zorana Sadiq

“In this afternoon of role-playing, soprano Zorana Sadiq definitely won the musical Oscar.” (Boston Classical Review) Soprano Zorana Sadiq has performed extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. She “…brought a tremendous range of color and expression to Currier’s vocal writing…singing, chanting, nailing difficult leaps and awkward syncopations with what sounded like ease,” (The Arts Fuse) in Vocalissimus with Boston Musica Viva, did “…wonderful work,” (Barczablog) in the role of Savitri in Ken Gand John Mills-Cockell’s Savitri and Sam, Dido in Dido and Aeneas: 21st Century Remix at the Soulpepper Global Cabaret Festival, featured artist in Sweet, Spicy and Hot: The progress of Love in 19th-Century Song with pianist Christopher Bagan, soprano soloist for the world premiere of Jeffrey Ryan’s Afghanistan: Requiem for a Generation with the Calgary Philharmonic, the role of Phoolan Devi in the world premiere of Shirish Korde’s opera Bandit Queen, the voice of Mila in Mulroney: The Opera by Rhombus Media, Necessary Angel Theatre’s Tout Comme Elle for the Luminato Festival , Four Last Songs with Orchestra Toronto and Peterborough Symphony, and Air Baby with Boston Musica Viva.

Other recent highlights include: a Music Toronto recital with pianist Peter Tiefenbach, Four Last Songs with the Orchestra Toronto, Poulenc’s Gloria, Mesiah,Carmina Burana,and Creation with Toronto Choral Society, Margaret Trudeau in Trudeau: Long Path, Shining March for the World Stage Festival, Granada Girl in Ainadamar with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and at the Tanglewood Music Feastival, Ariane in R. Murray Schafer’s opera The Enchanted Forest, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte with Opera Hamilton and Susanna in the Banff Festival’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro.

For her excellence in contemporary recital repertoire, Zorana was one of three finalists in the prestigious Eckhardt Gramatté Competition for Voice in 2005, and is the recipient of three Canada Council Arts Grants to professional musicians. Recently, she was praised for her “glowing voice” by the Boston Globe, and for her “vivacity and strong communicative instinct” by the Globe and Mail.

In 2014, she can be seen and heard in The Sultans of the Streetat Young People’s Theatre, in the Soundstreams presentation of Brian Current’s opera, Airline Icarus, and in recital of the music of Kate Bush and Prince with the accordionist Joe Macerollo.
