Norbert Palej

Born in 1977, Norbert Palej grew up in communist Poland, then in the former West Germany. He studied composition in the USA – at the New England Conservatory, Juilliard, and Cornell. An award-winning and internationally performed composer, he now teaches at the University of Toronto. His works have been noted for their blend of intense lyricism and visceral energy, and commissioners include Dame Evelyn Glennie, the Penderecki String Quartet and NEXUS. One of his recent CDs was nominated for a JUNO.
