Tapestry Opera Intensive and Showcase for Singers and Collaborative Pianists
New Opera 101 is a masterclass intensive and concert showcase for emerging singers and collaborative pianists. Contemporary Canadian repertoire is individually curated for each participant from the Tapestry Songbook, drawing from the rich collection of absurd, tragic, and beautiful operas from Tapestry’s 37-year history. Participants are instructed by contemporary opera leaders: mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szabó, tenor Keith Klassen, pianist Stephen Philcox, and stage director and Tapestry Opera Artistic Director Michael Mori.
Following the two-day masterclass-intensive, the program culminates in public performances in concert as part of the Tapestry Songbook, with participants performing alongside Szabo, Philcox, and Klassen.
