Raising the Baton
An historic showcase of conducting talent!
About Raising the Baton
Join us on February 9, 2027, for a historical first-ever concert showcase of Canadian female conductors at Toronto’s gorgeous Koerner Hall. Raising the Baton is an extraordinary evening celebrating the remarkable achievements of the Women in Musical Leadership (WML) program and five incredibly talented artists – Jennifer Tung, Julianne Gallant, Naomi Woo, Monica Chen, and Maria Fuller – who are changing the landscape of classical music in Canada and North America.
To further support the program, buy a ticket to the post-concert reception, to meet the artists and raise a sparkling toast to them!
Now in its sixth year, Tapestry Opera’s ground-breaking and award-winning WML fellowship is shaping and platforming the next generation of musical leadership from coast to coast. Experience a dynamic 90-minute orchestral program hosted by Canadian literary treasure, Ann-Marie MacDonald.
All proceeds from the evening directly support the operations and legacy of the Women in Musical Leadership program, providing emerging female and non-binary conductors with a vital three-year commitment to professional growth as conductors, including masterclasses, mentorship and mainstage placements with major orchestras and opera companies across Canada.
Join us to support Canada’s rising talent and invest in a future where young women see themselves in positions of musical leadership.
