August Murphy-King

Described as ‘sublimely articulate,’ the music of award-winning Toronto-based composer August Murphy-King blends the expressive energy of popular music with the technical and structural complexities of more traditional concert music. He has participated in workshops with Array Music, the Orford Music Festival, the Tuckamore Chamber Festival, the Soundstreams Emerging Composer Workshop, and he placed second at the 2016 Land’s End Composer’s Competition. He was a first-place winner in the 2017 SOCAN Foundation Awards. He is also the co-founder and co-artistic director of the Caution Tape Sound Collective – a Toronto-based composer collective dedicated to the performance of new Canadian compositions.
