Yanik Gosselin

Performance

Originally from the Lake Temiskaming region of northeastern Ontario, Yanik Gosselin is now based in Halifax, a region traditionally known as Mi’kma’ki. He received his BMus in Voice Performance from the University of Ottawa and his MMus in Opera and Voice from McGill University.

Currently a member of the Association for Opera in Canada’s RBC Future Launch Fellowshipprogram, Yanik is exploring how to contribute to the growth of the Canadian opera sector through collaborating on innovative works. He is particularly interested in the art song repertoire, particularly Schubert and Britten, and 1970s rock (from glam- to prog-), and is passionate about stories and the many ways they can be told, created and shared. He finds his creative freedom in transcending genres. Bridging the gaps between the classical recital and the rock concert, he seeks to find innovative ways to tell new stories through music.
