Baritone Jorell Williams, known for having “a solid vocal core and easy, natural production” (Opera News), and “a deliciously resonant baritone voice” (Broadway World) has been heralded as “a rock – solid singer with a keen understanding of his own expressive depths” (The Washington Post), is gracing the world’s most prominent concert and opera stages. He continues to grace major concert halls and opera stages worldwide with his commanding presence and vocal artistry.
This season, Jorell is a guest soloist in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (Omaha Symphony), Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes (Cincinnati Song Initiative) and Handel’s Messiah (Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra). Williams appeared in Rome Is Falling with the American Modern Opera Company at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, followed by My Brother’s Keeper with the New York Festival of Song at The Kauffman Center and his acclaimed debut as Belcore with Manitoba Opera (Elisir d’amore).
Operatic roles in 2025/26 include Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro (Indianapolis Opera), Herr von Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier and L’officier and Le geôlier in Dialogues des Carmelites (New Orleans Opera). In Toronto, Jorell stars as Dr. Blackwell in the Canadian premiere of 10 Days in a Madhouse with Tapestry Opera.
Jorell is widely recognized for his concert work, recently singing Handel’s Messiah with the National Philharmonic, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Omaha Symphony, and Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast with Choir St-Laurent at La Maison Symphonique in Montreal as well as Carmina Burana, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony throughout North America.
Jorell has appeared with South Dakota Symphony, Greek National Opera, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Amadeus Choir, Symphony Nova Scotia, The Elmer Iseler Singers, and Juneau Symphony.
He is an advocate for artist rights and serves as Chair of the Artistic Arts Council of Finger Lakes Opera, is a member of the Artistic Council for the Denyce Graves Foundation, OnSite Opera and is currently on the New Music board for the Brooklyn Art Song Society, using his experience to consult with arts organizations on their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
