Jaime Martino

Performance

Jaime Martino is an artist making work grounded in queerness and social justice, with a movement practice that emphasizes texture, initiation, and detail. Following the completion of her Master’s degree in New Zealand, she co-founded the Aha Dance Collective, a contemporary dance company dedicated to exploring gender and movement through a queer feminist lens. She choreographs for Momentum Dance Toronto and creates contemporary dance works as an independent artist, for which she has received Best Choreography (Dunedin Fringe Festival, 2009) and Audience Choice (Lights Dance Festival, 2018) Awards. In 2014 Jaime was officially recognized by the City of Toronto for her contribution to WorldPride as Pride Toronto’s Operations Director, and received a Rainbow Warrior award “for outstanding support for international LGBTQ solidarity and culture” awarded by the International Lesbian and Gay Cultural Network. Jaime believes deeply in the power of art to transform lives and the world that surrounds them.
