James McLean

A native Torontonian, James began his career with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Sir Andrew Davis, and he has performed extensively with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Canadian Opera Company. He has been based in Germany for several years, and has firmly established himself as a lyric tenor, specializing in the repertoire of Mozart. Recently, he has expanded his repertoire to include such varied roles as Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Alfredo in La Traviata, and Steva in Jenufa. Appearances on the concert stage include many performances throughout Europe and Israel, and his recitals have been broadcast by CBC Canada and WDR Köln. Among the CDs he has recorded are song cycles by Benjamin Britten, Gerald Finzi, and Ralph Vaughan-Williams.
