Lauren Segal

Performance

South African-Canadian mezzo-soprano Lauren Segal has quickly established herself as an artist to watch. A graduate of the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio, she is well-known both in Canada and abroad. She was the only Canadian selected to participate in the inaugural Salzburg Festival Young Artist Project and is a two-time recipient of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Encouragement Awards. COC credits include Diana in Iphigénie en Tauride, Dryad in Ariadne auf Naxos, Nancy T’sang in Nixon in China, Sonya in War and Peace, and most recently Meg Page in the sold out and critically-acclaimed Robert Carsen production of Falstaff. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Physics from the University of Toronto.

“Her incredible range is on full display as she seems to effortlessly sing this somewhat difficult score.”
