Ryan Allen

Caribbean-Canadian Tenor, Ryan Allen, is an actor who is equally at home in Opera, Theatre and on screen.  

Described as having a “rich tenor that gracefully glides” (CBC) and stage acumen of “admirable subtlety” (Edmonton Journal) Ryan has performed in several World Premieres of Operas including What Brought us Here (Calgary Opera), Giiwedin (Native Earth) and Pandora’s Locker (Glenn Gould School).  Some of Ryan’s favourite traditional operatic roles include Rodolfo (La Boheme), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi) and Ferrando (Cosi fan Tutte).

As a theatre artist, Ryan made his Broadway debut as the General in the Book of Mormon which was called “The best musical of the Century” (The New York Times).  Most recently he played Mister in the Canadian premiere and tour of the Color Purple (Neptune Theatre, Citadel Theatre and Royal Manitoba Theatre) and Jack Desmond, the husband of Canadian civil rights icon Viola Desmond, in the story of her life Controlled Damage (Neptune Theatre).

On screen, Ryan can currently be found in the DC Universe playing Jack Drake on HBO MAX’S Titans.  Upcoming, he will be recurring in the new John Ridley series Five Days at Memorial (Apple TV).
