Virginia Hatfield


Toronto soprano Virginia Hatfield is known for her luminous voice and widely varied repertoire, and “spellbinding” (Globe and Mail) singing.

Recent highlights include Brian Finley’s The Pencil Salesman, directed by Tapestry Opera’s Michael Mori; appearances with Off Centre Music Salon; The Talisker Players; The Elmer Iseler Singers; Toronto Masque Theatre, and recordings for the Ukrainian Art Song Project.

Virginia’s opera roles include Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Marzelline (Fidelio); for the Canadian Opera Company; Italian Singer (Capriccio) and Naiade (Ariadne auf Naxos) for Pacific Opera Victoria; Angelica (Orlando) and Elena (La Donna del Lago) for Voicebox:Opera in Concert; and Zora in Svadba (Wedding) for Queen of Puddings.

She and mezzo-soprano Megan Latham perform together with soprano Joni Henson on their acclaimed Christmas CD, Christmas at Casa Diva.
