British Columbia baritone Justin Welsh‘s career highlights include Crown in Porgy and Bess with Kent Nagano conducting l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and Queequeg in the Canadian premiere of Moby Dick for Calgary Opera. His 22/23 season includes Weidhoff in Braunfels’ Die Vögel for Pacific Opera Victoria (POV), Schaunard in La bohème for Orchestre Philharmonique et Choeur des Mélomanes and Tim Brady’s Backstage at Carnegie Hall for the Centaur Theatre. Welsh’s 21/22 season included Gianni Schicchi for the Canadian Opera Company, Gould’s Wall with Tapestry Opera, Bound for Against the Grain Theatre, and Leporello in Don Giovanni with POV. An alumnus of the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio, Welsh has also sung Marcello in La bohème for l’Opéra de Montréal, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro for POV, Baron Duphol in La traviata for Edmonton Opera and Verdi’s Requiem for the Okanagan Symphony.
