Canadian baritone Korin Thomas-Smith is a student at the University of Toronto, completing his Masters of Opera Performance. Korin has had the opportunity to work and masterclass with Eric Owens, Stephen Wadsworth, and Jessye Norman. In the 2019-2020 season, Korin sings the title role in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Edmund Bertram in the Canadian premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park. Korin joins the Music Academy of the West as a vocal fellow, singing the role of Paul in Phillip Glass’s Les Enfants Terribles. Korin is alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival where he covered the role of il Conte Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro. Korin performed with Toronto dance company Citadel+Compagnie in their hybrid dance and opera work, Against Nature. Previous roles include Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, Nardo in La finta giardiniera, Schaunard in La Boheme, and Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte.
