Amahl Arulanandam and Bryan Holt of VC2 Cello Duo invite audiences to experience the expressive power of two cellos in harmony. Blending classical mastery with modern innovation, their performance promises an evening that’s as engaging as it is unforgettable.

Tapestry Opera’s Free Underground Concerts is a free concert series offering the public a diverse range of high-calibre musical performances, all completely free of charge. Entering its second season, the series connects world-class artists with the community in an accessible, intimate setting, enriching the city’s cultural landscape.
- When: All concerts take place on select Mondays at 6:00 PM.
- Where: The Performance Hall at Nancy & Ed Jackman Performance Centre
- General Admission Tickets: Free with registration. As a free community event, RSVPs help us gauge interest, but admission and seating are strictly first-come, first-served up to venue capacity. We strongly recommend arriving early.
RELAXED ENVIRONMENT
In an effort to make the Free Underground Concert series even more welcoming and inclusive, all concerts this season are 45 minutes long and presented in a Relaxed Environment (RE), which is designed to create an inviting, barrier-free experience for patrons of all ages and with various access needs that traditional concert/theatre settings do not always accommodate.
What to Expect from the Audience:
- Patrons may enter, exit, or move around the hall as needed. Vocalizing, reacting, or making sounds is fully accepted and unrestricted.
- Front of House staff will be available to support patrons as needed, as well as to ensure they keep a safe distance from the stage/performers at all times.
- Patrons who use mobility devices or who may require assistance getting to/from their seat are generally seated in the front row or along the aisles.
- Patrons may keep phones on silent/vibrate mode and use fidget toys or earplugs (available from the Box Office and Quiet Space) during the performance.
- A dedicated Quiet Space offering comfortable seating, water, fidget toys, and earplugs is available on site.
Technical & Production Setup
- Lighting
- House lights over the audience will remain on at a low level throughout the event.
- Lighting shifts/effects will be kept to a minimum (no complex lighting cues or blackouts during performances).
- Sound
- Amplification and overall volume levels will be maintained at a comfortable level throughout the venue.
Artist Role and Expectations
- Artists play an essential role in fostering a welcoming atmosphere by embracing audience movement and vocal responses as a natural part of the performance.
- Artists are encouraged to speak slowly and clearly for greater comprehension, keeping remarks warm, engaging, and welcoming for a diverse, all-ages audience.
- Artists should avoid extremely loud or high-pitched sounds (sudden or sustained) during their performance.
HOW TO RSVP
Attendees must RSVP in advance for each event due to limited capacity. To get first access, subscribe to Tapestry’s Insiders Newsletter. Public registration opens approximately three weeks before the performance date. Early booking is strongly recommended as capacity is limited and shows sell out quickly. Late-comers are not guaranteed seating. All seating is general admission.
Because this is a free event, admission and seating are strictly first-come, first-served up to venue capacity. While an RSVP registers your interest in attending, it does not guarantee entry if the venue reaches capacity.
